Are Sustainable Products the Answer?

The world’s addiction to plastic products is starting to have severe consequences for the natural environment around us, and this can be seen almost everywhere you look. Despite the world’s increasing awareness of plastic related environmental issues, production of plastic products is continuing to skyrocket. Over half of all the plastic products in the world today were manufactured in the last 15 years.

As well as being a waste of precious non-renewable resources, plastic pollution causes severe problems for animals around the world. Whether that’s sea life dying after ingesting vast quantities of the microplastics which we flush back into the ocean or small animals getting caught in six-pack containers, it’s clear that something needs to be done if we are going to have a sustainable planet that our children and grandchildren can enjoy.

While a lot of the work involved in plastic reduction will have to be carried out by governments and major corporations, there are small actions that each of us can take, which, when added together, could start to make a significant dent in the plastics crisis that we are all facing.

One of the easiest ways to make a difference is to reduce the amount of plastic which you buy and use each day. One of the easiest ways to make a difference is to reduce the amount of plastic which you buy and use each day. This can be done by switching to alternative sustainable products such as
bamboo straws. These are made from natural, and above all sustainable, materials that will biodegrade after use and will not scar the planet in the way that plastic alternatives do. While straws have been a primary focus of recent plastic elimination efforts, there are other products that you should also consider, such as natural cutlery. While significant efforts are required, small steps like these are a great way to improve the planet that we all share.
