It’s one of the most frustrating parts of online shopping; seeing your purchase arrive in an enormous box filled with plastic, polystyrene and other protective materials and then needing to fight through this to get to the product you’ve ordered. For added waste, you find your product boxed in a branded cardboard box.
Not only can this be hugely frustrating, but it unnecessarily pushes up shipping costs. It can be a significant drain on the environment, requiring more fossil fuels and other resources to move packages around the country.
Double packaging & Wrap Rage? We’re Ending It
We’ve all been there. That object you’ve ordered arrives on your door step and you can’t wait to get it out of the box and start using it. The only thing is that something seems wrong? The box is far bigger than you imagined it would ever need to be given what you ordered. Undaunted, you start to tear it open, only to find that 90% of the box is filled with large pieces of plastic wrapping, separating you from the item that you ordered.
Once you finally fight your way past these and all of the polystyrene you get to your product.
Job done? Hardly. Now that you’ve finally unwrapped the item you ordered, you find that you now need to get rid of all of the packaging, branded cardboard box and postal box that it arrived in. Now that more of us are working from home and ordering more and more items online, this can be a serious problem. Many of us find that our recycling boxes are full to bursting with cardboard and that our bin is overflowing with difficult to recycle plastic wrapping a long time before anyone is due to come and empty it. Packaging really is for tossers, and we don’t want any of our customers to be one of those.
Even Recyclable cardboard still creates problems. When a tree is cut down, it takes 30 years for a new one to grow in its place and provide the same benefits to the environment. With the world facing one of its biggest-ever environmental crises, we really don’t have time for that.
