In recent weeks, the prospect of holidaying has started to return to the thoughts of many people as warmer weather approaches and restrictions ease, up and down the country. We here at My Little Panda have long maintained that our cutlery is ideal for travel, in any form, due to its compact nature and durability, so we set out to prove it.
"So we teamed up with our friends at AP Mountaineering to show you what Scotland can provide and how our bamboo cutlery is perfect for your next adventure."
AP Mountaineering AP Mountaineering are trained mountain guides who give personalised, safe and professional experiences in the mountains of Scotland, covering everything from walking, wild camping and navigation courses in the rugged beauty of the Scottish wilderness. When they go out and about, they want something hygienic, lightweight and durable that they know will survive their outdoor activities time and again, so we sent them a couple of My Little Panda Compact Bamboo Lunch Sets, whilst they also picked up some of our Reusable Bamboo Sporks.
A Weekend Away Arriving in time for their latest foray into the Scottish countryside, the first key question for our intrepid explorers was “Would it be light enough?” One of the many issues that plagues a regular outdoorsman like Andrew Paul of AP Mountaineering, is the weight of what he has to carry, especially when wild camping where he may be hours away from a car, or any sort of civilisation. Often opting for multiuse tools such as Sporks, in order to minimise what he has to pack, this time he had no such worry with the Compact Bamboo Lunch Set weighing only 72g, about the weight of a chocolate bar and a half.
Lightweight & Durable Heading out into the moody beauty of the imposing Cairngorms mountain range, our friends pitched up at the side of the stunning Loch Morlich, where they would set up their base of operations for mountainous adventuring. With all this movement, as they hiked trails and navigated craggy outposts, the durability of these sets was put to the test. Fortunately, bamboo is naturally tough stuff and can survive being slung in a backpack or in amongst camping gear. The reusable hemp carry pouch that the Compact Cutlery Set comes in meant that all the utensils were kept together and could be easily transported about with them.
“After a weekend away in the Scottish mountains, our products got the thumbs up from AP Mountaineering, being easily portable, light to carry, and eco friendly.. "
Heat Resistant & Easy To Clean Cooking was no issue at all as bamboo is naturally heat resistant so, using the Reusable Bamboo Sporks as outdoor kitchen utensils, there was no worry about burns or blisters, and the organic nature of our products meant that there was no worry of chemical leakage or contamination of their food. Easy to clean too, there was no problem using the cutlery for the evening meal and then having it ready to go for breakfast the next morning.
Biodegradable One concern that many adventure enthusiasts have is that they quite often use plastic cutlery that can get lost, damaged or dropped when on the move, and with some areas in Scotland presently suffering from an increase in fly-tipping, those who love the outdoors don’t want to contribute to polluting its natural majesty. My Little Panda’s bamboo products are biodegradable so will not contribute to pollution when disposed of. After a weekend away in the Scottish mountains, our products got the thumbs up from AP Mountaineering, being easily portable, light to carry, and eco friendly.
